We ordered this for a conference room in a historical building that has a white board where the blackboard used to be, so I could not mount the reveal to the wall. The screen we mounted to it is 55" diagonally and weighs about sixty five pounds. This stand handles it without any issues. I turned into at first concerned that the stand could be unstable with a reveal that size, but for the explanation that base is so broad stability isn't an issue.
The shelves are PVC, but they are strong sufficient to dangle a DVD player or pc, and the improve bar across the back is the very best place to steady cables (video, power, etc) with velcro hangers to maintain the complete thing steady when transporting it from room to room.
